These buildings were in all larger villages and were a home of a blacksmith. The blacksmith played an important role in everyday life of villagers because he would make or repair their tools, manufacture metal parts for their carrlages, horseshoes, and make numerous metal items for their houses. |

Each village used to have one bell tower and one well. The bell was used to notify the inhabitants of village certain times of day (e.g. noon), or as an alarm in the case of fire or other important events. The well was a source of good quality drinking water. In the ground, it was protected by a stone wall and above the ground it was usually protected from the outside elements by a small wooden anclosure. The village inhabitants would bring their wooden pails, fill them with water, and carry them to their homes |

Because religion played an important role in everyday life of villagers, almost every village had its own church. The size and architectural complexy of a church was dictated by size of the village and by wealth of its inhabitants |
