Every village used to have a tavern, that was usually located in the center of the village. Together with a church and mayor´s house, these structures played an important role in social activities of the village inhabitants. Neighbours used to meet here to exchange ideas, to relax, and to enjoy cultural gatherings.

Windmills were an important source of energy that was used especially for grinding grains, grinding spices, pressing oil seeds, and outing wood. The oldest windmill was built 5000 years ago in Alexandria in Egypt. In Europe, windmills were becoming important in the 11th century, but most of them were built and used in 18th and 19th centuries.

Larger shed were used for storage machinery, equipment, tractors and carriages.Most sheds used to include a small workshop equipped with basic tools necessary for maintenance
